FIRST WEEKEND of NOVEMBER SHOWS

The first weekend of November in Chicago can be much more exciting than watching the final leaves fall; it is always a wonderful weekend for art.  The Chicago Botanic Garden hosts the Fine Art of Fiber, an exhibit by the North Suburban NeedleArts Guild, Illinois Quilters, Inc. and Weavers Guild of the North Shore.  First shown in 1981, this is one of the oldest and most prestigious needle art exhibits in the Midwest. 

Opening Night:  Thursday, 4 November, 2010, 6:30pm to 9pm

EXHIBIT HOURS:  Friday-Sunday, 5-7 November, 2010, 10am to 5pm

This same weekend at Festival Hall Navy Pier, Chicago hosts the 17th Annual International Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair: SOFA CHICAGO 2010, featuring 80 art galleries and dealers from 10 countries.  Also at Navy Pier this weekend, you can see The Intuit Show of Folk and Outsider Art.

What a fine weekend for art enthusiasts and collectors!

FINE ART of FIBER

The annual fiber show at the Chicago Botanic Garden is coming up the first weekend of November. The show includes a fiber art exhibit, fashion shows, lectures and demonstrations as well as a boutique filled with handcrafted items, fiber art and wearable art for sale. This year’s special exhibit by Women’s Journey in Fiber is called “Hats: Wise Women Speak.”

Fine Art of Fiber is presented by North Suburban NeedleArts Guild, Illinois Quilters, Inc., and Weavers Guild of the North Shore.

Dates and times for this year are:
Thursday 11/4, 6:30-9pm and
Friday through Sunday 11/5 – 11/7, 10am to 5pm.
